Brad Welling a tout simplement une "Gueule". Originaire de l’Utah, 50 ans, mannequin et avocat, papa d’une petite fille de 5 ans, il a commencé sa carrière de model il y a deux ans. Il vit à Washington DC depuis 2011, mais il se considère avant tout encore comme un New-Yorkais où il a vécu à Greenwich Village pendant près de 20 ans.

Comment ça a débuté ?

C’est grâce au photographe de mode New-yorkais Rick Day. Sur un coup de tête, je lui ai écrit il y a deux ans pour le rencontrer à son studio. J'ai inclus un selfie dans mon e-mail. À ma grande surprise, il a été d’accord. Il m'a invité à une épreuve de test et ensuite il m'a dit que j'avais un look unique que je pouvais faire beaucoup. Il m'a présenté à différentes agences de models à New York avec qui il travaille régulièrement et l’histoire a commencé.

Quelles sont vos meilleures expériences ?

D'abord, Marc-Antoine Coulon, l’incomparable illustrateur de mode parisien a fait un portrait de moi (voir Gallery 109).

Et certainement être photographié par la célèbre photographe américaine Tina Barney pour un éditorial qui sera prochainement publié.

Et il y a eu également quand j’ai posé pour la nouvelle ligne de sous-vêtements masculins de Richard Dayhoff. En outre, il était très gratifiant d'être présenté sur la couverture de Satellite Magazine . J’étais impressioné de me voir sur ce magazine.

Quels sont vos photographes préférés ?

J'en ai plein ! Récemment, j'ai travaillé avec Andrew Basile pour Calvin Klein et pour le célèbre grand magasin de New York, Bergdorf Goodman. Le photographe Roy Schweiger de Milan, mais maintenant à New York pour plusieurs projets.

Andrew est un Directeur Artistique créatif et talentueux et la photographie de Roy a une approche très fine et affirmée. Les images que nous avons faites ensemble ont ajouté une dimension entièrement nouvelle à mon book. Mais mon rêve serait d'être devant la caméra de Clive Arrowsmith !

Que feriez-vous si vous n’étiez pas model ?

Toujours en tant qu'avocat. J'ai des factures à payer ! Mais je suis avant tout père de ma petite fille de 5 ans.

Pensez-vous être model indéfiniment ou vos rêves vous emmènent-ils ailleurs ?

J'espère pouvoir être model aussi longtemps que possible. Il y a quelque chose d’addictif devant l’appareil d'un bon photographe.

Citez trois adjectifs pour vous qualifier ?

Astucieux, simple, classique.

Quel est l'élément dans votre placard que vous ne jetteriez jamais ?

Mon chapeau de cowboy Stetson de 85 ans que mon grand-père a acheté quand il était jeune. Il est transmis d'une génération à l'autre dans ma famille. (voir gallery 109)

Question que l’on pose généralement aux femmes mais elle est valable pour vous ; Quel est votre secret de beauté ?

Facile ! J’utilise juste de l'huile de noix de coco comme hydratant pour le corps et je fais un soin du visage religieusement toutes les six semaines.

Et pour rester en forme : de la musculation en salle de sport. Faire du surf et de la plongée à Honolulu, ma deuxième maison.

Et surtout du chocolat à forte teneur en cacao.

Avez-vous une routine matinale ?

C'est une routine matinale connue par d'autres parents célibataires j'en suis sûr ! Je me réveille à 4h30 pendant la semaine pour me doucher et me raser. Je nourris ensuite mes deux chiens Shiba Inus. Après mon petit-déjeuner je reveille ma fille pour la préparer pour l'école à 7H30. Elle est dans une école d'immersion en chinois mandarin. Après l'avoir déposé à l'école, je me rends au travail lorsque je commence mon job d’avocat.

Les samedis et les dimanches, je prie pour que ma fille aille dormir afin que je puisse me reposer à mon tour !

Sinon nous écoutons Peppa Pig et le petit royaume de Ben and Holly. Ma fille aime regarder ces deux séries de dessins animés britanniques magnifiquement écrites sur YouTube. Les parents les adorent aussi !

En tant que parent célibataire , je n'ai pas le temps d'aller au cinéma. Je n'aime pas la télévision. Je considère que c'est une perte de temps pour ma fille et moi.

Quels sont les 3 meilleures choses que vous avez envie de me dire ?

Le meilleur conseil pour les nouveaux model ; Toujours dire merci au photographe et à l’équipe impliquée dans une séance photo. La courtoisie fait un long chemin dans cette profession.

Mon meilleur accomplissement ; Adopter ma fille à la naissance.

Un mot sur Paris ?

Dans une autre vie, je voudrai être un parisien. Il n’y a pas une autre ville au monde pour laquelle je suis tombé amoureux comme Paris ! Son architecture magnifique, sa mode et ses gens magnifiques et attrayants sont tout simplement irrésistibles.

Brad Welling simply has a "Mouth". Originally from Utah, 50 years old, model and lawyer, dad of a little girl of 5 years, he began his model career there are two. He lives in Washington since 2011, but he still sees himself as a New Yorker where he lived in Greenwich Village for nearly 20 years.

How did it start?

It's thanks to New York fashion photographer Rick Day. On a whim, I wrote him two years ago to meet him in his studio. I included a selfie in my e-mail. To my surprise, he agreed. He invited me to a test event and then he told me that I had a unique look that I could do a lot. He introduced me to different model agencies in New York with whom he regularly works and the story began.

What are your favorite photographers ?

I have plenty of them ! Recently I worked with Andrew Basile for Calvin Klein and for the famous New York department store, Bergdorf Goodman. Photographer Roy Schweiger from Milan, but now in New York for several projects.

Andrew is a creative and talented Artistic Director and Roy's photography has a very fine and assertive approach. The images we made together added an entirely new dimension to my book. But my dream would be to stay in front of Clive Arrowsmith's camera!

What brand would you like to ask ?

Hermes without a doubt.

What would you do if you were not model ?

Still as a lawyer. I have bills to pay! But I am above all father of my little girl of 5 years.

Do you think you are model indefinitely or do your dreams take you elsewhere ?

I hope to be able to model as long as possible. There is something addictive in front of the camera of a good photographer.

Cite three adjectives to qualify you ?

Clever, simple, classic.

What is the element in your closet that you would never throw away ?

My 85 year old Stetson cowboy hat that my grandfather bought when he was young. It is transmitted from one generation to another in my family. (See gallery 109)

Question that is usually asked of women but it is valid for you ; What is your beauty secret ?

Easy ! I just use coconut oil as a body moisturizer and I do a facial care religiously every six weeks.

And to stay in shape: bodybuilding in a gym. Do surfing and diving in Honolulu, my second home.

And especially chocolate with a high cocoa content.

Do you have an early morning routine ?

It is a morning routine recognized by other single parents that I am sure! I wake up at 4:30 am during the week to shower and shave. I then feed my two Shiba Inus dogs. After my breakfast I wake up my daughter to prepare her for school at 7:30. She is in an immersion school in Mandarin Chinese. After dropping him off at school, I go to work when I start my job as a lawyer.

On Saturdays and Sundays, I pray that my daughter will go to sleep so that I can rest in my turn!

Otherwise we listen to Peppa Pig and the little kingdom of Ben and Holly. My daughter likes to watch these two British series of cartoons beautifully written on YouTube. Parents love them too!

As a single parent, I do not have time to go to the movies. I do not like television. I consider it a waste of time for my daughter and me.

What are the 3 best things you want to tell me ?

The best advice for new models; Always say thank you to the photographer and the team involved in a photo shoot. Courtesy goes a long way in this profession.

My best accomplishment ; Adopt my daughter at birth.

A word about Paris ?

In another life, I want to be a Parisian. There is not another city on earth for which I fell in love like Paris! Its magnificent architecture, its fashion and its beautiful and attractive people are simply irresistible.
