Michio Koide, l’art du bijou japonais

Michio Koide est un artiste japonais qui a puisé son enseignement artistique dans l'art de la renaissance et auprès de son grand-père qui sculptait dans le bois des motifs japonais.

Il fusionne la calligraphie japonaise avec la matière pour créer des bijoux d’exception. Le travail du contraste est son obsession. Il souhaite transmettre des émotions dans ses bijoux et ainsi les transformer en art. L’art porté devient vivant, unique, personnel et rayonne de multiples détails.

La Première Dame du Japon, Akie Abe, fût l’une de ses prestigieuses clientes. Elle lui a demandé de réaliser un pendentif sur-mesure sur le thème de l’amour.

Ça a débuté comment ?

J'ai de nombreux souvenirs de mon enfance avec mon grand-père. Il avait une cabane qui lui servait d’atelier. Il y travaillait le bois. Mon grand-père sculptait dans le bois des motifs traditionnels japonais et j'ai grandi en le regardant faire. Peut-être que c'est grâce à cet héritage que j'aime travailler le motif japonais.

Depuis que j'ai commencé à faire des expositions à l'étranger, j'ai commencé à prendre conscience de mes racines japonaises.

Avant cela, je me suis particulièrement intéressé à l'art de la Renaissance en Europe et aux œuvres et l’architecture de l'Art Nouveau. J'ai acheté des livres et des répliques de sculptures de ces périodes dans des ventes aux enchères et je les ai étudiées.

J'ai été particulièrement influencé par Michel-Ange. Il m'a appris que l'art peut aller au-delà du temps, changer les gens ou donner des inspirations.

Le point de départ de mon travail s’est fait quand j’ai lu le livre de Michel-Ange. Lorsque j'ai visité le Musée du Louvre à Paris, j'ai été vraiment impressionné et submergé émotionnellement par ses œuvres.

Bien entendu, j'ai été influencé par Michel-Ange et l’art européen, mais le véritable déclencheur a été quand j’ai fait le lien avec la beauté du Japon et donc avec mes propres racines.

Lors d’une de mes expositions à Paris, je vivais dans le quartier de Belleville. Ce quartier de Paris m’a fasciné car il est rempli d'art, avec des gens de diverses nationalités. Cela fût pour moi une expérience passionnante et riche.

Un jour, je me promenais dans les rues et j’ai découvert une affiche du vieux dragon japonais dans une librairie.

J'ai été impressionné et surpris de voir les vieilles peintures japonaises en France, en plein de cœur de Paris. C’est à ce moment là où j’ai réalisé la valeur de l'art japonais.

Je peux dire que c’est en découvrant d’autres pays et d’autres cultures, que je me suis intéressé à l’art japonais.

Vos créations sont de véritables objets d’art, racontez-nous votre savoir-faire.

Il y a une chose que j'ai en tête quand je réalise mes œuvres. Je pense que ce principe les rend plus vivantes. Ce principe a également été expliqué dans Fantasia écrit par le célèbre graphiste, Bruno Munari. C'est le principe de mélanger le contraste.

Le contraste apparait dans la calligraphie japonaise ou encore dans les films. Par exemple, dans un film, il y aura un héros et un méchant pour rendre l'histoire intéressante. Le monde de l’écriture et de la calligraphie japonaise commence à partir du noir et du blanc.

Je pense que le mélange des contrastes est profondément lié à la créativité.

Dans la sculpture David de Michel-Ange, David est un héros, mais l'ennemi Goliath est à l'arrière-plan. Peut-être l'existence du soldat ennemi Goliath complète plus loin la statue de David.Le contraste entre le garçon du berger David et l'énorme soldat Goliath crée un sentiment d'urgence et d'émotions diverses.

Dans la calligraphie japonaise, il existe plusieurs contrastes, tels que les lignes droites et courbes, clairsemées et denses, rapides et lentes, en plus du blanc et du noir.

Peut-être que cela évoque diverses émotions pour les spectateurs.

J'ai appris cette philosophie de Kohei Okamoto, un calligraphe japonais.

Kohei Okamoto est connu pour donner des performances de calligraphie à l'Université de Yale aux Etats-Unis. De plus, son œuvre a été ajoutée à la collection du Musée de l'Université de Yale.

Actuellement, l'expérience qui consiste à mélanger la calligraphie traditionnelle et l'art libre se poursuit principalement avec M. Kohei Okamoto.

Dans ma dernière exposition à Tokyo en 2017, j'ai exposé des œuvres mêlant le design géométrique et la calligraphie.

Michio Koide, the art of Japanese jewelry

Michio Koide is a Japanese artist who drew his artistic education from his grandfather who carved in the wood Japanese motifs and in the art of the Renaissance.

He fuses Japanese calligraphy with the material to create exceptional jewelry. The work of contrast is his obsession. He wants to transmit emotions in his jewels and thus transform them into art. The art is alive, unique, personal and radiates multiple details.

The First Lady of Japan, Akie Abe, was one of her prestigious clients. She asked him to make a custom-made pendant on the theme of love.

How did it begin?

I have many memories of my childhood with my grandfather. He had a cabin that served as a workshop. He was working on wood. My grandfather carved traditional Japanese motifs in the wood and I grew up watching him. Maybe it's thanks to this heritage that I love working on the Japanese motif.

Since I started doing exhibitions abroad, I started to become aware of my Japanese roots.

Before that, I was particularly interested in the art of Renaissance in Europe and the works and architecture of Art Nouveau. I bought books and replicas of sculptures from these periods in auctions and studied them.

Michelangelo particularly influenced me. He taught me that art could go beyond time, change people or give inspirations.

The starting point of my work was when I read Michelangelo's book. When I visited the Louvre Museum in Paris, I was really impressed and overwhelmed emotionally by his works.

Of course, I was influenced by Michelangelo and European art, but the real trigger was when I made the connection with the beauty of Japan and therefore with my own roots.

During one of my exhibitions in Paris, I lived in the Belleville district.

This place of Paris fascinated me because it is filled with art, with people of various nationalities. It was an exciting and rich experience for me.

One day, I was walking in the streets and I discovered a poster of the old Japanese dragon in a bookstore.

I was impressed and surprised to see the old Japanese paintings in France, right in the heart of Paris. That's when I realized the value of Japanese art.

I can say that it was by discovering other countries and other cultures that I became interested in Japanese art.

Your creations are true objects of art, tell us your vision.

There is one thing I have in mind when I do my works. I think this principle makes works of art more alive. This principle has also been explained in Fantasia written by the famous graphic designer, Bruno Munari. This is the principle of mixing contrast.

The contrast appears in Japanese calligraphy or in movies. For example, in a movie, there will be a hero and a villain to make the story interesting. The world of Japanese writing and calligraphy starts from black and white. I think that the mixture of contrasts is deeply linked to creativity.

In Michelangelo's David sculpture, David is a hero, but the Goliath enemy is in the background. Perhaps the existence of the enemy soldier "Goliath" further completes the statue of David.

The contrast between the shepherd boy David and the huge soldier Goliath creates a sense of urgency and various emotions.

In Japanese calligraphy, there are several contrasts, such as straight and curved lines, sparse and dense, fast and slow, in addition to white and black. Maybe it evokes various emotions for the spectators.

I learned this philosophy from Kohei Okamoto, a Japanese calligrapher.

Kohei Okamoto is known for giving calligraphy performances at Yale University in the United States. In addition, his work has been added to the Yale University Museum collection.

Currently, the experience of blending traditional calligraphy and free art continues mainly with Mr. Kohei Okamoto.

In my last exhibition in Tokyo in 2017, I exhibited works combining geometric design and calligraphy.

日本のジュエリーアーティスト「小出　道夫」

小出道夫は、彼の幼少時代に祖父が木彫りを作るのを見て育ちました。彼の祖父は日本の伝統的なモチーフを作っていました。

　彼は、日本の書など違うジャンルのデザインをジュエリーのデザインに融合させています。

　対照を融合させることに彼はこだわりを持っています。彼はジュエリーに感情を伝えたいという思いがあり、それがアートという形を通して成し遂げることができるのです。

アートは生き生きとしており、独自の世界観を広げていくことができます。

日本のファーストレディーの安倍昭恵さんは、彼のジュエリーを持つ特別な人の一人です。昭恵さんは当時「愛を広げていきたい」という思いを持っており、その思いがジュエリーの形なりました。

私共が、小出道夫と彼のジュエリーの情報を共有できることをうれしく思います。

どのようにはじめたのですか？

私は、幼い頃の祖父との思い出が多くあります。アトリエのような小屋があり、いつも木彫りで何か作ってくれていましたね。

私の祖父は、伝統的な日本のモチーフを木彫りで作っており、それを小さな時に見て育ちました。私が、日本のモチーフが好きなのは、遺伝なのかもしれませんね。

海外で個展をするようになってから、自分が日本人ということを意識するようになりました。

それまでは、ヨーロッパのルネッサンス時代の芸術やアールヌーボーの作品や建築物がとりわけ好きでした。それらの本や彫刻のレプリカをオークションで買って自分なりに勉強しました。

とくにミケランジェロには強く影響を受けました。アートが時代を超えて、人々に感動やインスピレーションを与え続けることができる事を教えてもらいました。私自身も、本格的に造形を始めたきっかけは、ミケランジェロの写真集を見たことです。

以前、パリのルーブル美術館を訪れたことがあるのですが、その時に見たミケランジェロの作品には圧倒されました。

私は、ミケランジェロに影響を受け、ヨーロッパの芸術が好きですが、あるきっかけがあり自身のルーツである日本の美に興味を持つようになりました。

私が個展の時に、訪れていた町パリ。宿泊先は、パリのダウンタウンの「BELLEVILLE」でした。Bellvilleはアートに溢れ、様々な国の人々が暮らしておりとても刺激的な街だと感じました。

街を散歩していた時に、本屋のスペースに古い日本絵画の龍のポスターが貼られていたのを偶然みつけました。

こんなにも離れた外国の下町に、古い日本の絵画があることに感動と驚きを受けました。日本美術の価値を再確認できた瞬間でした。

海外に行って初めて、日本美術に関心を持つようになりました。

あなたの作品は、本当に芸術的ですね。あなたのビジョンを教えてください

私が作品を作る上で意識することがあります。その原理を使えば作品はより生き生きとしてくるように思います。その原理は、グラフィックデザイナーとして有名なBuno Munariの著書「Fantasia」のなかでも説明されていました。

それは、対照を融合させることです。

対照は、日本の書の中にも表れますし、映画の中でも見ることができます。例えば映画の中では、英雄と悪者が登場し、ストーリーを盛り上げますし、書の世界でも白と黒から始まります。

対照が融合することは、創造性と関係が深いと私は思っています。

ミケランジェロの彫刻ダビデにおいても、ダビデは英雄ですが、ゴリアテという敵が背景に存在しています。敵の兵士「ゴリアテ」の存在が、ダビデの像をより一層引き立てているのかもしれなせん。

羊飼いの少年ダビデと、巨大な兵士ゴリアテという対照は緊迫感や様々な感情を生み出しています。

日本においても、書の世界では、白と黒の他にも直線と曲線、疎と密、速い遅い・・などのいくつかの対照が融合しています。

まさにそれらが、見る者に様々な感情を生み出すのかもしれません。

そのような哲学を、私は日本の書道家「岡本光平」氏に学びました。書家「岡本光平」氏は、アメリカのエールー大学にて書の実演と講演をしたことでも知られています。また、作品はエールー大学美術館に所蔵されました。

現在、岡本光平氏を中心とし、伝統的な書と自由なアートを融合させる試みが、続けられています。

私も、2017年に東京で行った自身の個展では、幾何学模様と書の融合させた作品を出展いたしました、
